Welcome to

TheVintageVixenShop

Hello Fellow Vintage Enthusiasts! My name is Amy, and I am the proud owner of TheVintageVixenShop, which is a vintage shop on Etsy. I opened my Etsy store, TheVintageVixenShop, in March of 2019, with little to no idea what I was doing. Since then, I’ve learned so much and I am still learning something new everyday! I love shopping for yesterday’s treasures at thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, and flea markets. Since I can’t possibly keep it all, I enjoy being able to share the spoils of my treasure hunting adventures with all of you!

I live in Georgia with my husband, Johnny, and our three kids. I am a creator and collector of pretty things, and lover of all things vintage. I personally collect circa 1800s embossed medicine bottles, especially ‘quack medicine’ and cure bottles, in cobalt, amethyst, and emerald, as well as green uranium depression glass. I also have a soft spot for anything from the Art Deco or Mid-Century periods. Through my Etsy store, TheVintageVixenShop, I was fortunate enough to provide antique wine bottles to be featured on an episode of the TV show, “Magnum P.I. Hawaii”!

How We Got Started…

I have loved the look and style of vintage since before I knew it was a thing. I always chose the Art Deco style jewelry for prom as a teen, and have been enamored by my grandmother’s vintage mid-century glassware since I was a child. Back then, I definitely cared more for the aesthetics than the history and would have never guessed I’d be doing what I am now. And so, TheVintageVixenShop was born nearly by accident. A tenant of my grandmother’s had passed away and his son was not interested in collecting any of his father’s belongings from his home so it became the responsibility of my grandmother to dispose of his things so she could have the house cleaned and get it ready for a new tenant. My husband and I volunteered for the job of physically removing the stuff from the house and putting it by the side of the road. As my husband and cousin haphazardly threw item after item down the front steps of the porch, I merely stood by and watched in disbelief. When they came out the front door with an Art Deco style 1940s waterfall vanity between them, I could stand by and watch this travesty no longer. I yelled for them to stop before they could do any more damage. I did not know it was an Art Deco vanity of course at the time, but even in its dilapidated state, I could see it had once been something amazing and deserved a better ending than it was heading for.

By the end of the day, I had filled my van several times with all of the treasures this poor man had collected and unloaded them into the garage at my own home. I was not sure what I was planning to do with all this stuff, but I knew I couldn’t just let it be garbage. My grandmother’s tenant had obviously been a collector but not just of one type of thing; he had all sorts of collections. Vintage glassware, tons of really great vinyl rock records, antique and vintage toys, baseball cards, tools, ephemera, tobacciana, and a huge tote full of antique glass bottles. The bottles quickly became my favorite mystery and I was obsessed within no time. From the bottles, I began to learn more about glassware from the depression and I found uranium glass. The rest is history, as they say.

Today I love the hunt of finding great vintage items to resell at TheVintageVixenShop and also to add to my own collection of course. I find my treasures through a variety of sources including thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, auctions, and through local marketplace sellers. I am not a professional by any means, but I do my best to provide accurate descriptions and clear pictures of all my items. I try to keep my pricing fair and am happy to be able to include free shipping with every purchase. Check back often because I try to add new items weekly and have monthly sales and a discounted clearance section.

Thanks for checking out TheVintageVixenShop and I hope you will find something you love.
